Life on Mars

About Workshop

In the first phase of the Life on Mars program, a robot will be designed to perform on the surface of Mars. In the second phase, projects on colonization studies on Mars will be developed. The program follows a path that determines and implements project processes with trainings in basic sciences such as basic physics (mechanics, electricity), electronics, software, robotics, astronomy, geology, materials science, and applied sciences.

The robot which will be designed within the program will be able to move on the surface of Mars, record images at different wave lengths with the cameras on it, stream these images live or upload them to a cloud environment. Also, it will be remotely accessible and controllable. The robot will work like a laboratory, examine the air and collected materials then send the results to the control panel.

The history of climate and geology of Mars is written on the chemistry of rocks and soil. The robot that will be designed studies this information by analyzing the samples of powder-like soil that came from rocks. It also makes measurements to determine their chemical fingerprints, compounds and history, especially their past interactions with water which can be found in different water sources and soil. The most important of all, it tries to understand if Mars supports micro life forms.
